Journal Entry: Gluttony and Greed

Return to The Dante Dreams Project

The poet has read these words:

What benefit if you gain
the world but lose your soul?
Put a knife to your throat
if you are given to gluttony.

He feels steel at his throat;
there must be exemptions….

No! He is trapped by lust
for food and finer things.

He fights sleep, a return
to perdition’s road
the ticket,
his nodding
head.
